Masland Carpets and Rugs looks at green energy, product performance, manufacturing, health/safety/environment, and end-of-life responsibility. Masland was founded in Pennsylvania in 1866, and since that time Masland has insisted that its carpets and rugs maintain the highest quality. The tradition of manufacturing quality products has been practiced for over 139 years and continues to be practiced today. Masland's manufacturing and distribution plants measure over one million square feet. The facility has state of the art technology ensuring quality throughout the manufacturing process. The distribution center has capabilities of storing 20,000 rolls of carpet and houses the facility where all rug designs are manufactured ensuring quality control and production.
Many of Masland's carpet styles made of DuPont Antron nylon, have been certified as Environmentally Preferable Products (EPP). This status denotes that the products "can demonstrate a reduced or lessened environmental impact when compared to other products performing the same function." The EPP program is built upon rigorous recognized industry standards. It establishes environmental prefer-ability based on the life cycle impact of five factors: product performance, manufacturing, green energy, health/safety/environment, and end-of-life responsibility. Masland Carpets also has a commitment to its people, which instills an internal environment of responsibility to nature. Masland's War on Waste program has empowered the employees of Masland to generate effective ways of eliminating waste. Masland has generated a respect for nature that will ensure a safer environment for the future.
