Natural Cork
About Cork
Cork has been recognized through the centuries for it's beauty, durability and stable properties. For hundreds of years, cork has been used for bottle stoppers, as floats for fishing nets, and as sandal soles. The famous Dom Perignon initiated use of cork stoppers in wine bottles. In 1981, an American, John Smith, discovered that it was possible to product agglomerated cork, opening a new range of applications for this versatile material. Cork floors have been popular in Europe for over 100 years and can be seen in this country in many prestigious locations including the Library of Congress. If you are designing a creative or active space, cork is a pure material that neither outgases nor sheds micro fibers improving indoor air quality. Cork's acoustical properties dampen sound creating a more intimate space. The natural beauty of cork flooring is strikingly elegant and sophisticated while remaining reasonably priced.
